So I've been needing to replace the slave cylinder on my 98 2500 for a few months now, finally had the money to go pick up the part and try to get it installed. Long story short I tried to slide the transmission back far enough to get to the slave (just the gearbox, bellhousing is still bolted up). Needless to say, it didn't work out as planned. I thought it would go back far enough without completely removing the crossmember but alas, I need about another inch to get the shaft to clear the housing. To make matters worse I can't seem to get it in position to slide it back forward.

How screwed am I on this? Do I need to figure out a way to get it stabbed back in to removed the crossmember before I can do anything else?

Second that...
Heck I just cut a notch for it on my 02 2500

If its removable, why did you do that?

I may just be a freak, but I actually walked away from a pickup that was for sale once I found out they cut a notch for the shifter stub.
