Threw on some new rear shocks the other night. These will probably be temporary to get me by until the truck is complete. I've been eyeing a set of Bilstein 5100's.

Got the anti squeak/rattle tape stuck on the new tank today and hung the tank finally.

I think the new tank support is in a tad bit better shape than the old. Could have reused it, but I snapped a stud when I removed it. Figured if I was cleaning everything up, I may as well get a new support.

Comparison of the old vs. new lines.

Cleaned the frame up with some Chassis Saver. Ignore the rusted out cab corner lol. It actually gave out and fell on me while I was laying under the truck.

Everything minus the filler neck and vent hose installed.

Not much going on today so no photos. Just ordered the fuel filler neck and a few other small parts from LMC. Should be able to start throwing everything back together this coming week so I'll finally be able to drive the truck.

As it gets later in the summer, I'll start replacing all of the front end components.

Have a good Memorial weekend guys. Be safe and remember the reason for it :patriot:

The filler neck and bumper hardware finally arrived from LMC today. I wanted to start putting the bed back on, but I had to help the fiancé with a bunch of landscaping around the house today. Looks like I'll start Monday since I'm working all weekend.

A little bit of a difference, wouldn't you say?

Its been a few days since I've been on here, but I haven't been sitting around. Finished bolting the bed and rear bumper back up last week. I have to get the screws to hold the filler neck to the bed and a new gas cap and its good, but other than that, it runs!! Fired right up for me with no leaks anywhere. The other day though, I went out to the barn and the brand new battery was completely dead. Looked around and found a ground wire from the trailer wiring harness that wasn't grounded. Charged the truck up and I'm in business. Drove it a few miles today to my mother's place and then home and it ran great. I noticed my bouncing fuel gauge is fixed too, I thought it was the stepper motor in the cluster. As soon as I got home I backed it in the barn and got it situated so I can start tearing into the front end this week. Took a few photos while I was out today.

Back of the truck looks brand new with the rust free '97 tailgate and bumper lol. The hitch doesn't look bad either now.

Just a bone stock interior for the most part. Swapped in a brand new OEM CD player a few years back, but besides that its stock. Eventually when the exterior is completely done, I'll start to focus on new carpet and other small pieces inside.

Still doesn't look very pretty, but she isn't spraying gas everywhere anymore. As soon as I got in the driver seat I had a huge grin on my face.

Back into the barn lol

As you can see, it looks terrible. Over 150,000 miles of Northern Michigan weather in there lol. My dad decided to spray the rotors and calipers red for god knows what reason. Seeing as he passed away almost 7 years ago, I'm pretty sure its time these things are replaced.

And now for a question. How do I tell what lower control arms I have? CAST or STAMPED? I've heard it makes a difference for what ball joint I go with.

Had the day off of work today so I threw on the new pitman arm. Took several hours total. I didn't realize the steering box was so heavy and that was what took so long, wrestling that damn thing around.

Haven't taken any more photos lately, but I haven't been working on the truck as much as I should be.

So far, I've got the caliper and rotor removed on the passenger side and that's about it lol. At the moment I'm attempting to get the bolts from the wheel hub out of the steering knuckle. I even bought a new Milwaukee M18 Fuel impact and that can't even break them loose. I may have to just drill the bolts out.

Haven't been working on the truck lately, been more busy finishing up the ceiling in the barn to keep the heat inside during the winter. I should be able to start focusing on the truck again. At this point, pretty much everything is pulled out on the passenger side. The LCA bolts are giving me hell currently, seems like they area seized inside the bushings.

Finally lost my patience trying to get the bolts out for the LCA's. Used a cutoff wheel yesterday and cut the front bolts. That solved one problem, but of course the torsion bars were completely seized inside the LCA's from 20 years of Michigan winters. Ended up using a torch and cut the torsion bar keys and I was able to pull them out.

My buddy is taking them to work to press out the bushings and ball joints. I'm going to coat them in Chassis Saver and then have him press in the new stuff. Hopefully I'll be able to start throwing it back together soon.

Grabbed some more parts while I'm waiting for the LCA's to come back. Got a new center link, idler wheel, and idler arm bracket. Then decided to get a new cap & rotor, spark plugs, and wires. Fired her up tonight and she runs smoother than I've heard in a long time.
