Let me start off by saying hello
I have a 95 short bed that I bought with out a engine and trans. The guy told me that it was a v6 truck but he did run a 350 with TBI init.

I bought a 94 with a 350 and a 4l60e. got the motor in my 95 started looking at the wires that go to the trans found out I have extra wires. So I came in started reading found out that 95's is a stand alone year.
I don't have the safety neutral switch on the side of the trans.and there is another plug that I don't have a place for. I do have the wire harness and PCM from the 94.. Should I just switch out the harness ? I think I would have to change the ABS and get rid of the air bags if I go that way.. Or should I find a trans from a 95? Man why did GM have to change so much stuff between years?
Please help have no ideal what I should do. And I don't want to burn up the trans
Thank Jay

You should be able to put the park/neutral switch on if it has the boss for it to bolt on. However the real difference between the two is how the TCC engages. 94 was still on/off converter clutch and 95 started using pulse width modulation. For some reason they thought slipping a clutch was a good idea to make it feel smoother.
Unfortunately 95 in general was a bad year for everything.
You would almost be better off going to a 700r4 and not worry about it.

I was thinking about that but what about the speedo? Don't the 700R4 use a cable for the speedo? Man I miss my 85 could change pretty much anything and it would work lol

I was looking into that to replace my TH400 with a 700r4 but that project got canceled. I picked up a 40 tooth reluctor ring PN 24202711 should will work on a 700r4 but for $8 I was going to roll the dice. Use the VSS from the 95 in the 700r4 tail housing. All you have to really do is remove the plastic gear and press the ring onto the output shaft and get it in the correct location. The gear ratios are all the same between the 700r4 and 4L60e.
Of course if this is a 4wd then you're on your own since all this would be located in the transfer case and I didn't have to look at what that involves.

Na its a 2 wheel drive. I think I going to just Plug in the 94 PCM and see what happens. Talk to a trans shop today and they think it will be fine. We shall see
