I did pop the grille on just to make it look a little cooler for the time being a couple weeks ago, and got a picture of the other side than I normally get. That's progress right? :p

I have been reading the whole project for the last couple of days and all I can say is WOW.

Makes me want to at least copy some of what you have done. This is just one awesome project.

I can't wait to see what is next.

Went to the junkyards today and found a couple of things that i've been looking for! I've been keeping an eye out for a clean tailgate, and I found one that had just recently shown up and fot it for $35. It has a dealer sticker from SC so that must be why it's rust free. It is obviously the wrong color and has some small scratches, but I think i'll give it a quick sanding and just go over it with some good gloss black spray paint for now. Also, I finally found the big block radiator brackets I needed. I almost didn't check the Burb I got them from because it was burned, but sure enough it had a 454 and exactly what I needed!

Wow, that's a cool tailgate you found! I am surprised it has the Classic 1500 sticker still on it, that's a keeper. :D

It's funny you should mention that, I don't think i've ever seen a truck that had those decals and to me they don't look factory, but my buddy thought they were. I didn't catch the year of the truck I pulled it off of, but it was a 95-98 Sierra 1500. I know Chevy had cars that were "Classics", but were just a carryover of the previous body style. Maybe it was a 98 only thing before they switched to the GMT800? Either way i'm not keeping them on there, going for the clean smooth look.

No the '98's didn't have that, maybe the '99 Classics did, I do know they made a 1999 Chevy K1500 Classic. They did have that new emblem on the tail gate, bottom right corner, that said "Chevrolet Silverado" instead of the big Chevrolet aluminum emblem that went across the tail gate.

I know you replaced the control arm bushings on this a while back. How did you go about swapping the new upper bushings onto the old sleeves? Do they press in and out? Thanks

If the sleeves are clean, you just lube up the new bushings and push them together, it doesn't take much force to do it. The hard part is to get the old bushings out of the old sleeves. I literally just set them on fire and burned them out.
