So, my 4.3 decided to be a little mother:)'ing turd and cracked a head. I ain't about to fix the junk either, and better yet i just paid out the god damn ass for an intake job and spider injector assembly for it. (FROM THE DEALER!!!=560$!!!FOR THE PART!!!)
:beatdeadhorse5:
Anyways, i can't justify spending more money on this junk so i was wondering if anyone has ever dealt with swapping a 350 in, old or new, into a vortec's place.
Now, what i am thinking is a 350 with a mild cam, and a carburetor.
If i found a 96+ vortec 350 would that be the way to go? Could i run the stock fuel injection, or does it have to be a carb?

I am trying to get my moneys worth here, and i only got about 2000 dollars to blow on this swap.
Right now i have the 4.3->4l60e->3.08 gears.

My last engine swap was in an 81 el camino, So i'm more familiar with those older style small blocks.

Let me know what you guys think.

...and if any of you guys need a 4.3 spider injector assembly let me know...

If you have an automatic transmission then you need an expensive controller to go carb. Go to the junkyard get yourself another V6 and be done with it.

What Skylark said, and spend the additional money you save on getting rid of the 3.08 gears. Be the best mod you can make. All the hp in the world can't compete with mechanical advantage

I took out my 4.3 and put a 5.7 vortec in needed to buy new motor mounts and got a pcm at the wreckers just make sure it's out of an auto 5.7 I used the same wiring harness and just looked up the pinout diagram and ran two more wires for the extra two injectors had to do a relearn on the computer and it fired up with no issues
