I think just about every 2500 and 3500 got a key fob, for some reason, 1500's didn't get one. My dad's one ton and my 3/4 ton parts truck both have key fobs and the 3/4 ton is a low end Silverado. Makes no sense...

Yeah that is interesting. A friend of mine had a '99 classic 1500 with a fob, But the truck had about every option. That's the only one i've seen.

It seems as though you had to have the truck SUPER loaded to be able to get the fob. You had to have just about as many options as the Suburban had, since those were pretty loaded, unless they were a Cheyenne or W/T. Oh well, most likely, it was a special order accessory. :)

I had a local guy install it, so far so good. But I just recently got it this past winter.

Hmm, so yeah you must have had to have a loaded truck to be able to get that key fob, and my truck was the regular Silverado, wasn't loaded with everything. :33:

I would say your right, At the time I'm sure they figured if you wanted keyless entry, they assumed you wanted every other option. But like you said, it makes no sense that most of the keyless entry trucks were 3/4's and tonners. Its goofy how they did it back then, its almost like todays trucks, where you have only the Silverado package, but you had LS,LT or LTZ for top trim. Its like my '88 Silverado is pretty much a base model, it came factory with just a base radio with no cassette, crank windows and manual locks, and my '92 Scottsdale is damn near optioned the same except it has manual climate controls, vinyl floor mat and two tone deluxe paint. Other than that, there almost identical.

So when are you gonna haul the truck home?

Hopefully in the next couple weeks, It would have been much easier if the leaf spring hadn't been cut off at the hangers. It makes ZERO sense, They cut the spring off, but they took the time to unbolt the U-Bolts and toss them in the bed! Could have been worse I guess....
