Made it to the paint store today. There went another $1000. There is now around $1600 in painting materials alone sitting on the workbench...

Glad to see that you have the most important part. A respirator. Too many people overlook their health.

Yes I have several floating around here, I've always been pretty careful about wearing a respirator when painting or sandblasting, and a dust mask when dry sanding. However I'm usually pretty lax about wearing anything when aerosol spray painting. Also I need to do better about dealing with solvents, I'm sure getting that stuff on my hands and other parts of my skin isn't good for my health.

I have been told that chemicals are absorbed thru the skin and go to your liver. Not good. When I started doing body work 40 years ago it was standard practice to wash up with lacquer thinner. I wear the gloves when handling paint or solvents these days. My brother just had a liver transplant less than two months ago it will make you think.

FINALLY I have an update. Got the later part of the afternoon off from work. Been crazy busy, put in 162 hours last 15 day pay period. Anyway, I finished the last hour or so of sanding out to 600 grit. Then prepped and sprayed primer sealer followed by base coat about an hour later. I'll shoot clear here in about a half hour.

And clear is on! 4 thick coats. Have a few runs, should be plenty thick to be able to scrape them down with a razor blade later, then do the final sanding and buffing.
