Do you need to install a load resistor to an LED 3rd brake light?

For some reason, my brake light on it will not shut off. Even when the truck is shut off. Any idea what's going on?

Are the brake lights next to the tail gate on too? The brake lights have power all of the time, unless you disconnect the battery. If it's just the 3ed brake light that is on, you will need to trace where it is getting power from. If all of the brake lights are on, then the switch may be stuck in the on position.

It is only the third brake light staying on. When I plugged my factory 3rd brake light in, it was fine and worked as it should.

Hum,, Mine has been on my truck for a long time, and it never did that. It may be because the LEDs are getting a very small amount of current, but that is enough to light them up. You could check this with an OHM meter. You may need to add a resistor like you asked in the first post, but IDK what resistor you would need.

Like I said, mine has been on my truck a long time, 3,4,maybe 5 years. It was plug and play. I never had an issue with the brake light part on the assembly, but he cargo light part has a mind of its own. Some times, only one side will light up, and other times they both will. If I pull it off to fix it, they both work then. I almost never use the cargo light, so I just gave up on fixing it. As long as the brake light work as it should, that is all I care about. Point is, these things aren't always the best parts you can buy. IMO I would send it back too.

Yeah, I wouldn't care about the cargo light either, as long as the brake light works. Well I appreciate the help. Where did you purchase yours, if you remember
