Back story:

I had a 1990 Chevy C1500 Silverado SCSB in high school. I sold it and really regretted it about 2 years later. I'm still looking for it so I can try to buy it back, but have yet to find it again. I went through attempts to recreate it with a 1990 Sierra and a 1991 Cheyenne. Thirteen years later, I decide to fish my dad's old K2500 out of the field and fix it up. So here we are. The truck had been sitting in the field for 2 years and had become home to mice, ants, spiders, and whatever my dad threw in the bed. It's probably about the worst GMT400 you could try to "restore", besides the relative lack of rust compared to northern trucks. Here's the day we pulled it up to the house to get it started:

I've been working on it for about 7 months now, keeping a pretty good pace. Here's a list of things I've done:
  • A thorough cleaning
  • Ripped out moldy vinyl flooring and insulation
  • Painted floorboards
  • Ripped out sagging headliner
  • New tires
  • Added a tachometer
  • New (glass) headlights
  • New running lights/turn signals
  • New door hinge pins and bushings
  • New (junkyard) hood
  • Paint job (in progress)
  • New spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor rotor, distributor cap
  • Many oil changes to fight the sludge build up
  • New air filter
  • New PCV valve
  • Radiator flush
  • Rebuilt passenger rear brake cylinder
  • New brake fluid
I try to document most of what I do on my blog here: MT Auto

I'll try to update this thread with new stuff. I'm open to suggestions/comments. Thanks for checking out Scottie.

I installed the Salad Bowl today a.k.a. the TBI Air Flow Enhancer a.k.a. the TBI Power Charger.

Although I wrote more on my blog (The TBI Air Flow Enhancer, a.k.a. the Salad Bowl), my opinion of the bowl is that I can definitely tell a difference. Everything from taking off from a dead stop to accelerating on the highway seems to take less throttle. The truck feels like it has more "grunt".

I'm not sure if it gave the 8 HP and 8 lb-ft of torque to my truck that they claim on Hot Rod Network, but I'd say it's a worthwhile investment/mod.
