Now look at the top bulb. You will notice that i wrote "BRIDGE" for the ground contacts. The circuit board does not have a ground for the "High filament", so what i did was take a SMALL strand of bare wire (think 1cm at the most, you don't want to touch another contact point) and thread it through the "contact rods" on the ground end of the bulb by wrapping it around the base. This is NECESSARY. Then carefully install the "High filament" wire in the designated spot, and install the bulb.
Does anyone have a close up pic of what is being described here with the bridge? I'm having a hard time picturing it in my head.

Also, I noticed the bulb for the reverse light is a double filament bulb too, but only one lights up... I'm considering doing this mod to it as well, so both light up when put in reverse.

Nvm found one

What have you seen? I'll have to get pictures of my setup, I have posted pictures of the gmt800 sockets before.

The oem circuit boards fail from the additional heat. The 88-89 ones are way worse, but the newer ones do it to. Not everyone has the problem, but there is a reason you can go to the parts store and buy the circuit board in the "help!" section.

Out of my two gmt400 vehicles I had problems with both. My best friend had problems with his as well. Neither my 99 or my buddy's 98 were molded. The way the boards are designed they can intermittently fail over time, from what I think is heat.

That is why I do not think it's a good idea to not mod them this way.

I`m guessing that if you used led lights with lower current there wont e any heat issues.
