Picked up a $160 ebay soft tonneau cover. The quality is actually pretty good for the price TBH, would totally recommend. It's the "Tyger" brand and has a 10-year warranty on the fabric even.

The real drive behind this is to keep the pine needles from accumulating in the bed/under the bed mat. I hate having to pull those 1" thick horse mats out and clean under them. I also missed having a cover over the bed when hauling groceries/truck parts (like my 02 did) but with the camper taking something on and off is kinda annoying. This rolls up at the front of the bed and the rails stay, so it can be used with my camper no problem.

How'd you mount the Led pods on the back bumper? I'm very interested on mounting some to mine too.

Well the reason I bought the MSD was because it was an aluminum shaft and base instead of the cheap plastic the OEM one was, it was also about the same cost as the OEM replacement Delco unit. It's built well, I would just double check the screws and re-loctite them (they generally are to begin with). Buying a performance part you USUALLY don't have to think about taking things like that apart and checking....

I did find what looks to be a clone of it on ebay. I was planning to pick one up for my 88 when I swap to a vortec intake/ignition system. $50 VS $250 is pretty big.

After this incident, I had found a tag inside the MSD "Made in China" :/ which leads me to believe the ebay version is the same thing without the price tag.
Ah good call, thanks for sharing that link!
Rock auto had a different one for slightly cheaper than MSD, but i'll give this one a try once I get to that step in my build.

I'm all about the AAA premier membership. I used to use it a lot with my super crappy cars (rx7s love tow trucks).
I haven't had to call in a couple of years, but i know the year i don't renew it, i'll be stranded somewhere in the middle of CA.

I keep going back through your build, taking notes. I see so much that I want to do to my 3500 crew cab. Biggest differences are, mine isn't a duelly, mine isn't 4wd, and mine is white. Other than that, it is a 454 5spd. Mine just started out as a work truck.

I have one of the eBay units. exact same thing happened to me. screw came loose shot through side of cap and let rotor come out of place and destroy it's self. also stripped one of the rotor screw holes. I had to goto a self tapping screw I cut down and loc-tite the **** out of it!
