Hi there,

I just bought a 1994 GMC Sierra C1500, 5.7.

I'm just having a bit of an issue finding out what belt to get. Mine is looking a bit worn, but I'm not sure what part number (ie. from Amazon) that I should get. If I look at something like Continental Elite and decode the VIN, I get quite a few results.

The truck has AC, I'm not sure what A/P means (from what I can find, the A/P is air pump though).

Also - if anyone here is from NZ and have had their belt replaced directly with a BNT part, would you happen to know what that part number was?

I think there are three factors to determine your belt. Do you have A/C, do you have the air (smog) pump, what amperage alternator do you have. If you have the a.i.r. pump I believe it is located on the far left while a/c is like middle/top. Check the listings at RockAuto. They make it fairly clear.

Cheers for that, don't think I've ever seen an air pump before, the a/c on mine is far top left.
That def confirms a couple things anyways - thanks!

Left and right is always determined as if you are sitting in the vehicle... that is industry standard....

Sorry about that, was probably just remembering from memory and in my head it's on the left!
Will remember right side anyways! :)

Most likely you need a 955k6 belt. If you had the 120 amp alternator which most vehicles didn't come with you would need the 968k6 belt. That belt number will cross reference with every major distributor out there.

Haha, yep happy :)
Thanks heaps for the help!

Looking at the codes in the glove box, it's a 100 amp alternator. It's newish though, so can't really see any rating anywhere, even stamped in the metal.
