Hey all,

Just bought my first 94' GMC Sierra 1500, had one owner when it was in the US (Canadian built truck). We had quite a few trucks in the family when I lived in Canada, so it's finally awesome to have one of my own!

She's a pretty awesome truck, has some niggles here and there, but looking forward to doing it up over the years.

Just spent the weekend polishing and waxing (then rained heavy this morning coming from Auckland to Tauranga). Fixed a few electrical issues and just need to change the drive belt now!

Welcome and great to see another kiwi on here! Looks like you picked that up from WC classics, I remember seeing it there. Its a very tidy truck!

And yeah don't mention the rain, it has been constant all day here in Tauranga.

Thanks!

Tiny Trucker - I'm based in Tauranga as well (Monday through Thursday). And yep - came from WC classics. I looked at quite a few Chev's/GMC's and liked that one the best. Paint work isn't the best (it is an older truck!), but I think overall the condition was really good.

Doing a bunch of research where to get parts and what not from, the best I'm finding is actually just get from Amazon provided you're patient. It's great you can still get a heap of new parts even for the interior!

Oh ok, you work down here? Yeah I am pretty sure WCC get all their vehicles from Cali (where their shop is based) so you are unlikely to have rust but paint damage is highly likely, as is mine (bad sunburn).

Yeah I too am currently trying to find bits and pieces too, I tried emailing a few local car/parts importers and no replies, oh well they don't want my money...

Amazon is good, try some of the big name shops that these guys use like Summit and Jegs etc. Also GMpartsdirect .co is good for original parts if you can organise someone to forward it out of the States for you.

Welcome! Were these trucks sold in your market before or do they all have to be imported? Looks clean

Tiny Trucker - yeah, work down here, been working in Tauranga for about 13 odd years now! There is pretty much no rust damage, except for surface rust. There's a whine from the power steering, but when I replace the belt, I'll flush that, if that doesn't do the job will replace the pump.

I remember fixing the power steering on my old Legacy and that was a real pain.

Waiting on my first shipment of stuff from Amazon - they do seem really awesome. Combined with Youshop (gives you a US address), should be pretty good for getting stuff! Classic parts looks pretty decent as well, thanks for the pointer on GM Direct!

Jolly Jerry - Nah, these were never sold in Australia/New Zealand. I've seen ambulances as Chev's here before though. Most of the trucks down here are light/mid size trucks (so Hilux, Ranger/Courier). They've definitely been getting bigger lately though. But stuff like the Nissan Titan or Tundra you don't really get here. All of them get imported, even the new ones (which cost a fortune here). If they're older than 20 years, they can stay left hand drive, otherwise they have to get converted to right hand drive (high performance stuff gets exempt I think).

Pretty happy with the truck (haha, kinda regret the financial decision to buy a secondary vehicle, but it's awesome looking out at the truck!).

Wow you must be able to travel between Akl and Tauranga blindfolded doing that for 13 years!

Just be careful with the oversized stuff (or any stuff really). I want to get a front valance (deflector) imported and Youshop want $512 nzd to bring it in, it is about $400 postage through summit, and if I get it sent to Kiwi Shipping and it goes on the boat with somebodies car, then its $200. All for a $30 usd piece of plastic. So shop around mate.

Apparently the Aussies had the GMT400 new through the GM brand, so you can get Aussie new versions...

And haha yeah I remember the Chevy Ambulances, doesn't seem like that long ago the Tauranga Hospital one disappeared!
