HELP!... with cam selection

Needing help with selecting the proper cam. I'll tell you what I'm wanting it for.
I'm getting my 350 blocked bored 30 over and my heads reworked. I'm wanting a good street engine that has a good sound that's not so loud I can't take it on short road trips. I've been looking at the XE262 Comp https://m.summitracing.com/parts/cca-cl12-238-2) I've been told this has a decent lope that's not overbearing and I can still keep stock valve springs. Keep in mind I'm not going to be racing and plan on keeping my tbi. Thanks in advance for ALL advice. I'm open to comments and suggestions.

Also I was thinking of installing a throttle body spacer, long tube headers, undecided about true duals but I like the 50 series flowmaster. And was wanting to dump the e haunt behind the rear axle. Hope this helps.

That cam may have more duration than the stock programming may like, and the TBI system is pretty sensitive to vacuum. Perhaps a step down to the next smaller one might be a bit better if you don't plan on a tuning session. Keeping stock valve springs, might want to install a new set of 'stock' replacements, they are likely lower on seat pressure after all this time. Not expensive, and allows you to get the full RPM capability out of the cam.

Long tubes, good idea, might check out some of the stainless offerings on eBay, 1.5" primaries if you can find them. True duals, not so much, you lose the scavenging effect of alternating pulses pulling fresh fuel into the cylinders. A two into one Y and a 3" single pipe would be preferable here. I would space the injector pod up rather than an under TB spacer.

You can check the spray pattern of the injectors with a strobe light... a timing light can do this, to make it flash faster, put the inductive pick up on the coil wire instead of a plug wire, and point the gun at the open TB.

Do you feel like an X pipe would be good on my own exhaust? I am having new valve springs and retainers installed.

If you do intend to use dual pipes ( I don't see the need ) then either an H or X pipe. Summit and others have X and H pipes available.

On a mostly stock engine, using a well designed Y pipe and a single 3 or 3.5" pipe would be my choice. Of course it all comes down to preference.

Also, I would take a look at the muffler flow chart before pulling the trigger on the Flowmasters.

Michael thanks a bunch for your insight. One more thing and I'll hush. What's your opinion on the flow master? Do you have another muffler you'd recommend? I don't want it to loud but I would like to have a good deep tone.

The XE lobes are pretty steep, leading to noisy valvetrain and potential for premature failure. Not to mention the goofy red koolaid "cam lube" they give you with those things. I'd consider changing over to a roller cam setup if I was you.

Always run the springs that the cam manufacture recommends for the cam you choose. A spring failure can drop a valve so no way I would risk trashing the engine with some umpteen thousand mile springs. Not all machinists are engine builders or vice versa, and some are both, and if he's telling you it's ok to run the tired springs with that cam....well

Error to the smaller side on the cam.
