I went with my co worker the other day to deliver a piece of restaurant equpt. that we build. The equpt was heavy, so he said lets go in my truck. It is lower than the shop truck. He put some boat cleats in the bed near the floor. This made some grate tie down points. His were like this, and he simply screwed them into the bed side wall. These walls are double plated. As long as you use the correct screws that are not to long, this will work grate.

Better than no tie down at all, but I would not want to be securing anything very heavy, unless there were through bolts with large washers on the other side of the panel instead of screws.

I have seen many, many collisions in my lifetime already, and load security is important.

I agree about securing a load. I have some rubber blocks that fit into the skate pockets. If you put enough anchor points on something, it's not going to move.

Partially agree, depending on the severity of the collision. No one 'plans' to get into a collision, however it can happen.

Straps can break, especially where they meet a sharp edge. Small strips of carpet or rubber over sharp edges on an object will cause less stress on the strap.
