Has anyone used this engine before? Is it any good? I don't need an engine just yet, but I'm probably going to need one in the next year or so. I'm looking for longevity, not performance. It's going in the wife's 99 Suburban, so it just has to go vroom when she turns the key and hit 70mph.

I've never purchased an assembled engine before; I've always built.

Gm crate motor = much yes...

I haven't ran one in this truck but I had a gm performance crate motor in my 90 and it ran absolutely perfect and gm dealers will warranty the engine as well. Jegs also has great service. They are one of the online stores I trust

No idea on your question, but I wonder why they specified this. "For Vehicles with Factory 5-Lug Wheels" I'm wondering what difference would a 5 or 6 lug would make to the engine.

i was going to get the same one when mine let go of the ghost......but after considering all the peripherals needed, then upgrading some things for a "tad" more power, i decided on the HT383E engine.....yea, it was more money......but i don't regret it at ALL.....especially when i mast the pedal. it really didn't take me long to make the decision either......this will probably be my last truck, your needs for your wife may be different.

don't hurt to look though

A handful of years ago I bought a GM performance crate motore 383. absolutely loved it!! I did a good bit of research before hand. I talked with a few reps and they told me that everything on the engine is brand ******* new!!!! nothing rebuild or reman'd strait off the line to your vehicle. well worth the money in my eys.

I bought one of the crate motors for my '88. Not exactly the same as this one but it was a lot cheaper than I could have machine work done & rebuild my own. It has been in daily use since 2010. No problems at all.

I bought one from my local chevrolet dealer, a long time ago. Just a standard 350 truck engine. I put in a '86 GMC original a 6 cyl from Canada. Posi, 4:11. 3 year. warranty and unlimited mileage at that time. My son bracket raced it. No electronic class.

Good engine... Intake, holly carb, transmission work, lowered with drop spindles and hangers. I wish we had kept it...
