ok, rehashing an old thread..
I yanked the passenger airbag out and installed the cubby hole.. Steering wheel has not been changed

what do I do about the airbag light in the cluster?

As far as I know the only way to eliminate that light if you've modified the air bags in any way from their factory configuration is to remove the cluster and pull the bulb.

LMC Truck sells them now I believe.

EDIT - Just looked, not any more apparently. I swear they had some around a month ago.

@98 k1500 ryan, remove your dash bezel on your truck, unbolt the 4 bolts that hold the gauge cluster, find the airbag light on the backside, remove that, and you will have no more problems with the airbag light anymore. That's what I did to my truck when I completely removed all airbags.

Those of us with extended cab 2500/3500's are also lucky enough to not have a 3rd door. Airbags I can live without, but no 3rd door can be a pain sometimes.

Ya the lack of 3rd door on my extended cab 2500 is a pain. I am a big stocky (not fat) guy and can barely squeeze behind the front seat. - like trying to reach something that is on the floor. On the hand my friend has a 3rd door that has given him nothing but problems.

As for the cubby...it is nice until you have to have to stop suddenly (because of a moron who cant drive) and everything falls out.

I thought it would empty itself if you had to floor it? I imagined everything slamming against the back side from an emergency stop...

But, I don't have one, so I don't have that experience, lol. I know I would rather have the cubby than the airbag.

It does neither.. it has a rubbery plastic mat with a small lip at the bottom that keeps things in there, for the most part. Never had any trouble with stuff falling out.
