the shifter you're using: is it convenient where it's placed? mine is a manual shift 4L80 so i will need to have full access, same as in a manual trans. i thought of removing the center console and putting it halfway from there to the dash. any thoughts?

It's convenient for me where it is, but I don't do any manual shifting. I think you're right, it would have to come back a foot or so if you were having to shift all the time.

I just put one in my truck with pioneer radio and I have the same problem the radio doesn't fit perfect needs a trim ring around it to cover the small gap. My next project is after market guage to did you post up how you wired them in to truck wiring or did you just use all new sender's ?

I started the old thread about 4 years ago asking who might have done this. I did it on my 94 Blazer without cutting the dash up... so it could always revert to stock if I sold it. I custom made my insert though, and that took some thinking. I have a whole write up on my trucks page here. https://www.facebook.com/pg/WookieWagon/photos/?tab=album&album_id=592146380959678

Here is a front view, you can see mine sits higher than the Metra kit since my design does not cut an inch out of the dash. I instead cut the insert and raised the vents section up and then glued the entire thing back together. I also cut the duct work behind the vent so when the radio is pushed in, it pushes the duct section up and points the duct higher to get good airflow out.

Finally got mine in. super easy to do and looks decent. Cutting the dash was easy enough, only fault was my ac vent clips were tough to put in. no biggie and finally got it . soooo glad they finally did this kit.
