The whole reason i bought my 97 k3500 drw was because i planned to buy or build a gooseneck capable of transporting 2 jeeps at the same time, i had been using a 1500 and a bumper pull for years and it just wasnt cutting it. So i Sold them and bought my 3500 and started hunting for a project. And thats exactly what i got lol.

I bought the axles, and 24' chassis in pieces from a man that got them from a salvage yard already cut up, appears to be part of a old horse trailer that had a half ass deck put on it.
He also sold me 50' of 3" angle and (10) 101" wide great dane van trailer cross members. All for 700.
Here is the day i took it home after he spliced the frame back together. Yes i had to trailer home my trailer lol.

I needed a dove tail of some sort, i knew i wanted to be able to load cars on it, and it needed to be at least 26' long to fit both cherokees. After hunting around craigslist i found some 8" channel, enough to build a 4' dove.
Cut it down into wedges and plated the inside, strap on the top of seem and fish plated on the sides (i must not have taken any pics of them after i tacked them on)

Laid the deck out, and yes i ended up putting another cross member on the dove and tied them together.

Added the angle around the perimeter of the deck so i can strap anywhere on the sides of the deck. And added d-rings to the top of the deck. At 101" wide there is no need for stake pockets imo, i will have a smaller bumper pull for things like firewood and such. The angle is bolted to the ends of the cross members so they can be removed for a deck replacement or modifications in the future.

Finally painted and added leds down the sides. At this point i hadn't decided what kind of ramps i wanted (loose or attached) so the tail lights were half-assed on the rear end.

Now i decided i want a set of loose aluminum ramps, i found some online that are a perfect fit (8' long, 10k capacity) so i used a piece of 6" channel for the rear end of the trailer. Cut holes for the lights, added a 1.5" rail to the top for the ramps to hook to.

Looks like it works well. That was pretty much my dream trailer back when i used to wheel. Except i wanted dual tandem axles and around 35' so i could fit a few quads too.

I have a friend with a 34' deck gooseneck, the one i used to haul mine home, and it washed any desire for me to have one that big right away.. its WAY to big to maneuver down any kind of tight streets easily. Mines 28' and i can get it almost anywhere i can get my bumper pull 18'

I built these ramps out of a semi loading ramp cut in two, has a piece of 10' channel bolted to the back to stiffen it up (heavy as hell). Ile use these until i order a set of the new 10k ones.

Nice work on the trailer! Do the ramps store under the trailer when not in use?

Thanks!
Ones i have currently do not, they are just some junk thrown together to use the trailer. Once i purchase the new ones i will make a slot in the end of the dove tail to slide them in with a locking door of some sort.
