I'm far from an expert, but from what you describe, it sounds like Bilstein may be the way to go. There was another dude on here who recently got Monroes (not sure which variety) on his Suburban, and hated the squishy ride...

After reading more reviews of the Monroe's, I agree with you. I'll go with Bilstein, thanks!

Random question: when replacing the shocks would one have to jack up the vehicle? I've seen a couple videos on a lift and a couple on the ground...almost looked as if the shocks could be replaced without lifting. Perhaps re-install would be aided with a jack lifting the vehicle to lengthen the suspension. Thoughts? I'm still on the fence with this job lol.

I do believe you'd need to jack the truck up. I just had the shop do it, as for $80, it seemed worth it to me. I didn't have the right sized tools and space seemed tight around the bolt heads.

You'll want to pull the tire, unless you like making the job much harder on yourself. If I remember right the shocks every time I've done them are a touch longer then the suspension maxed out. I bought some for rebuilding the front of my suburban but they ended up in the pickup when I realized those where shot right before a road trip. Then found out the burbs shocks aren't toast yet...
