Okay here is one that's got me scratching my head a little and since I'm sitting here at work, unable to go fiddle around with my pickup, I figured I'd see if any of you had any ideas about what I've got going on.

Here's the deal: 1997 K1500 Silverado, New 5.7L installed this past spring, auto, 4x4.

I just installed a new receiver and a modestly powered amp and sub. I had to disconnect the battery a couple of times over the last few days as I worked on this project in a couple parts due to the cold. Each time I unhooked the battery, it reset my check engine light which is permanently on due to a bad O2 sensor on the exhaust. No big deal. The ABS light always comes on once I hit like 5 or 10 MPH, had that light checked, it's a generic fault code for the main ABS module which is funny, because my ABS works fine. This last time after I reconnected the battery, I noticed my ABS light wasn't lit. I thought, cool, maybe the ABS system is finally aware of the fact that nothing is really wrong with it. A couple of driving sessions later I noticed that the check engine light hadn't come back either. I checked it with my code reader and it was still throwing the same P0174 as always. Next time I started the truck I noticed that the check engine light and ABS lights aren't coming on for a second as they should on startup either.

Just weird, although nothing I'm too concerned about. More than anything I'm just wondering what might be causing this, not that I'm necessarily worried about fixing it. I figured I'd check some fuses but I kind of figure the gauge cluster is probably all one fuse, and the other lights on the cluster and the rest of the dash are all working fine. Just something to scratch you head over, just like I've been doing at work today.

Would be a weird coincidence, but maybe the cluster got jostled around a little while you were working and burned those bulbs out somehow?

I can't imagine I would have moved the gauge cluster enough to cause any bulbs to stop functioning. Hell, I didn't hardly move it at all. So I've looked over my fuses and kind of visually inspected the visible wiring behind and under the dash and I don't see anything out of the ordinary. Since I don't really care if it gets fixed and I was more just curious why it might have happened, I'm not going to go to the trouble to pull the gauge cluster and check the bulbs so I guess this will just have to remain one of life's great mysteries.
