First thing is to determine if the clutch is actually releasing. It shifts not running because the gears are meshing while stationary. With the engine spinning if the clutch is dragging or not releasing at all you need to determine that.

With the vehicle in gear(not running) have soldier #2 step on the clutch and see if you can turn the output shaft by hand.(pull the drive shaft or jack up one rear wheel. If the shaft won't turn the clutch isn't releasing. If it's not releasing I'd check if the master slave cylinder is working next.

H,, well funny enough I was just having a similar issue with my sons car,
Turned out the machining on the center spline was a bit rough and would hang on the input shaft, so basically clutch would only move so far so it would not fully disengage.
We cleaned the splines and worked it on and off till it moved freely.

Can you see the fork moving when the pedal is pushed? Also, can't remember off the top of my head, but some clutches are directional and can be installed backwards causing issues.

I had a problem like this before on my car. Turned out to be a bad clutch disc. Even though you would push the clutch in, the disc was still touching both the flywheel and pressure plate. This not allowing any gear to be selected. Might be something to look into.

Make sure that disc moves freely on the input shaft splines because in our case the pedal and leaver on the side of the trans moved normally.
It's definitely the clutch one way or another, so time to pull it.
