I have a 89 c1500 5.0L 2wd long bed.

1 1/2 rounds cut out on 3500 springs & 6in flip kit.
Im thanking about putting rear air shocks on my truck to help with the towing & hauling.
Shocks i will be using is for1985 chevy monte carlo because they are shorter about 3in v8.
Has any 1 every put air shocks in the front?

Air shocks are good for a little assist but keep in mind that shock mounts are designed to control the ride not support the truck or the cargo. If you load a truck and pump up the shocks to compensate you are removing the load from the springs that are designed to carry it to the shocks that are not. It would be ok for light loads but if you want to load to the trucks capacity you may want to use air bags for assist.

I only carry my atv. Which is around 700lbs. I was thinking about 2in drop bracket too.

I remember the 70's when everyone was jacking up cars with air shocks and putting the shocks through the trunk floors. We would weld a pipe between the frame rails and bolt the shocks to that for a fix.

Going to blow out a set of air shocks quick. Like someone said above they are not designed to for a load, but o assist in ride. You asked about putting them on the front? Unless you cut a spring dangerously low or use a shock with substandard spring weight you would see much drop with that setup, and lift would be dangerous as a set could in theory unseat a spring if enough lift was given. I don't even know if they make air shocks for the fronts for this reason?

Ha late 90's when everyone had slammed front ends and the back on air shocks. that was the easiest way to look cool.

Might wanna have a look at AirLift's SlamAir system. They're assist bags designed for dropped trucks.
