Hey guys, I've got a question. I've got the opportunity to pick up a 400 small block Chevy. It's a 2 bolt main block, and I've heard that the 2 bolt 400s were stronger then the 4 bolts. I'm looking to replace the tbi 350 in my 92 and wanna know if this would be worth it. Thanks for any replies

I think this the right place (kinda?).... what does a tired/busted cat sound like? my pickup runs awesome, but from about 1,250-1,500 RPM it has a rattling sound somewhere in the exhaust behind the front seat.

Like said about, it runs great, idle is great, 3K rpm is great, and everywhere in between, just trying to pinpoint this.

I just had a cat with broken ceramic inside. It started out as just a rattle at idle and sounded like an exhaust shield loose. I got under with a rubber hammer and hit the exhaust all over and the rattle was from the cat. Holding the shields made no difference so I knew it was internal. after a couple months it got louder and became annoying and I started loosing power. I took a 4' hole saw and cut it open and found there are two separate pieces of ceramic honeycomb inside and the rear one had broken and a piece had turned sideways across the exit hole. I broke up and removed the rest of the ceramic and rewelded the piece I cut out. It has been about 3 months and a couple thousand miles and no codes or cel yet.

In that case, do 92s have an O2 sensor?

If not, would now be a good time to do a cat delete? :Big Laugh:

You should have an O2 in front of the cat, you need that one. I've never owned an OBD1 truck, so I don't know if they have a post cat O2, but if so, it doesn't change how the truck runs to delete the cat.

I see, time to either, A: Crawl under it when it's not raining or B: start digging into the forum more.

I think B is good for now :boti:
