So as an update... It passed its inspection and is now registered! Finally. Thanks for all the help along the way to keep up my enthusiasm.

The orange icon on the dash in the shape of an engine came on today, but cant work out what could be causing it. I don't have a code finder... anyone know the most likely causes?

To elaborate... I dont have a scan tool, nor can I find the port. Mine is converted RHD so no idea where they have put it.

There are thousands of reasons the check engine light could come on for. You really need to have it scanned to see what the code or codes are to be sure.

Yeah, I know.. Problem is that I can't find the port as it's RHD converted. So they could have put the OBD port anywhere. I'll keep looking for it. I think it's an electrical gremlin as the light is back off again now.

So I bought a tow bar months ago and after finally picking it up from a mate in Melbourne, driving it all the way home and trying it out... it doesn't fit! The instructions with it say its for a 88-98 GMC, Chev etc but not a chance it's going to fit.

Anyone know what might have gone wrong here? Is the 3500 different? Any help appreciated.

I thought they were all the same.
How doesn't it fit? Are the mounting holes not lining up? Or is it hitting something?
They may have sent you the wrong one by mistake

I thought they were all the same too. But the holes arn't lining up. I'll double check the width later but it seemed okay. I could drill new holes but was trying to get around that.

I had a play with MS Paint today with a bit of spare time. I'm getting the tail lights done at the moment so should have it on the truck soon. Here is a VERY rough idea of the design...

Welded on the tail light bar today, once I wire it up I'll remove the second temp set.
