Okay so this idea fits right into something i've been playing with in my head. What would the accoustical properties of this be? Like say wanting to put a subwoofer in it. on SMD forums and all i have asked many times and got varying responses from the gurus of car audio. what do ya'll think. if its sealed tight, braced right, and even lined with a polyfil for accoustic suspension wouldn't this be a decent way and different way to build a sub enclosure?

BTW looks awesome so far.

Not good. Metal is a pretty poor choice for any type of speaker enclosure. Way too resonant. It'll be extremely prone to rattling, flexing, etc. Just doing weird stuff that you do not want. You want something dense and neutral to vibration, hence the reason 99% of enclosures in the home and car markets are made out of MDF. It's the absolute best material you can get in an attainable price range.

If you were going for stock look you could layer it with some used or replica carpet and mold some fiber glass or wood grain to the tops and trim. Shoot if you want to make one for an ext cab with 4inthefloor I'll buy it all day!

Metal suffers from high 'Q' resonances. If the aluminum enclosure was well braced, and lined with Dynamat or equivalent, it could be used. High Q resonances are the same reason why bronze is used for making large bells.

Consider if a large bell was made out of rubber rather than bronze, a large strike would hardly make much noise.

Aluminum can be used, but it has it's drawbacks. Baltic birch and MDF are primarily used for speaker enclosures for the above reasons, as well as cost.
