Checking fluids on my 92 k3500 today and found thre front diff was low. Started filling it and it took longer than I'd like to admit to realize that oil was pouring out the other side as fast as I was putting it in.
I seem to remember tearing one of these apart several years ago, I can't recall a seal between the axle tube and diff housing. All the bolts are tight.
Anyone know what is going on here?

It didn't have a seal in it and I couldn't find a seal listed on any parts diagrams.
After getting the area cleaned up I could see that their was a small gap. Just had to loosen the tube to frame bolts to get everything tightened back up. Stopped the leak, but will be keeping an eye on it.

If it happens again I would pull it and hit it with some black or grey permanent after I cleaned it up.

Housing isn't cracked is it? We had one in the shop a few years ago (maybe last year, lol). We believe the owner was spinning the rear tires than dropped it into 4wd...... No, not saying this is what you did. Just that I have seen a couple broken.

Nope, I guess the bolts just backed off a little. Been about a month now and it's still sealed.
