Today, I ran my truck by the exhaust shop to have it looked at. The exhaust guy said my catalytic converter is as old as my truck and the muffler was far behind it. So, he replaced the muffler with quietest one he had (MagnaFlow 13259, 3 inch in/out), cut my catalytic converter off, and dumped the exhaust over my back axle. Now it's a bit louder than I like and it has that tin cap raspy sound to it. Anyway to quieted down a little without having another cc put back on?

This ordeal is totally my fault. I should have researched more before buying a muffler.

So here is where I am. The muffler I bought is a multi chamber Magnaflow. I was told that I should have bought a packed flow though.

Do I replace my new muffler with a more packed flow through or leave it.

Biggest complaint is internoir drone and the cracking raspy sound. Or would a resonator be my cure?

Guys, listen to Jr. Keeping the tail pipe in the factory location will be much quieter than a dump pipe under the truck.
