Need some input/advice. I cracked the heater core hose adapter on the intake manifold awhile ago when I was replacing the adapter. It's not leaking but I would like to replace it. Does anyone have some suggestions for an intake manifold for a 98 Chevy 454. I haven't done any upgrades to the motor but I wouldn't mind the ability to do so in the future. Any advice or input would be great.

There really aren't many options to keep the EFI setup and run an aftermarket intake manifold. It's possible that edelbrock might make a efi manifold for the 454 with oval ports, but it probably isn't cheap and will take some work to get integrated.

From what I can gather the stock intake manifold can get you too ~400 hp (maybe a bit more if you start modifying it), but to get over 450 it'll likely require a different setup. This is provided that you do a cam swap and tune the computer of course.

That's my issue is there isn't options out there and my manifold has a hairline crack in it

If all else fails, you could find a salvage yard manifold, but I agree it would be nice to upgrade while you're changing. I just don't know if it is worth the gains for the price.

What other mods are you thinking?

Well my hope is to take the 454 out of my truck and put in a 4045 John Deere Diesel in. Then find a Chevelle or similar for the 454.

That'd be a sweet swap.. And then if that's the case you dont have to worry about the manifold's power restrictions, since you could just go to a aftermarket carb'd version unless you really want efi.

Went to get the tires balanced and rotated today ended up having to show the techs how you do it. You wouldn't think you'd have to do that.

Well made the decision to pull the trigger this weekend and insulate and board up the walls in the garage. Found out that the floor is very wavy and not level at all. It was very irritating that the studs aren't all 16" on center, they're just randomly spaced between 9"-20" on center. But got all the walls done for ~$300. I need to put some boards over the seams of the OSB panels to cover any small gaps and to help pull the boards flush. I'm going to paint the walls gray next month. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out

Well after 5 years of avoiding having to get Iowa license plates I had to cave today. Now that I'm not in school I can't get Colorado plates anymore.
