1997 Gmc Sierra k1500 5.7l. Little over a year ago I had a reman motor installed. Squeal started then. I have put on within the last six months, 2 Harmonic balancers. First one from autozone second one from gm dealership. After I installed the 2nd one from the dealership, I also bought a new harmonic balancer pulley from the dealership as well. Serpentine belt, belt tensioner, idler pulley, as well as the alternator. I replaced the alternator, because my uncle a mechanic said it could be the alternator pulley. Only thing I have not replaced is ac compressor and power steering pump. Any one have ideas on what it is? Because I am sick of throwing money at this motor to stop the squeal.

My truck makes a whine when it's running too. Not really noticable unless you're under the hood. Ac pump going out. Not all the way out yet, but on its way. Not a difficult fix.

Sounds almost like a whistle but through a large opening?

A harmonic balancer is not going to give you a squeal. It's possible the fan inside the alternator is spinning on the shaft. Did you replace the entire tensioner assembly or just the pulley? Over time the spring can fatigue and cause low belt tension, or the wrong length belt could be installed.

I had an intermittent squeal from my alternator. Worth looking into.

Does the noise go away when the AC is powered on? I had a weird squeal noise coming from the serpentine belt area, turned out it was the AC clutch slightly dragging on the pulley behind it.

Definitely follow the above advice about removing the belt and spinning every rotating every pulley by hand, checking for any roughness or play.

Another old trick is to get your self a spray bottle of water and spray on certain areas while running to pin point the issue, as shown in this video:

I replaced the whole tensioner assembly. As well had the the pulley bearing on the alternator checked. It seems to be more spuratic and never at one set time. Only things that I have not replaced completely are the ac condenser and pulley. and the power steering pump and pulley. Also put a new belt on the truck when I did the tensioner.

watch for pulleys that don't spin straight, my guess is the ps pulley is crooked

I have never removed the power steering pulley.

Was the power steering pump swapped over when the engine was replaced?

See if the pump shaft is flush with the pulley. If it isn't pressed on far enough, it can throw the pulley/belt alignment off and cause a chirp.
