Well, this old issue cropped up again. Found the nut securing the ground at the back of the right side cylinder head "slightly" loose, and by slightly, I don't mean by much. Tightened that up yesterday and so far, so good. I do like to put the fixes, or attempted fixes out there for future use. I hate it when people start a thread with an issue, and then don't share the success or failure of any attempted remedies.

Hey Dave,

I am having a similar problem. My truck will stall, usually while going uphill, and will then stall for a couple of days, but then self-resolve and be fine for weeks or months, only to stall again when I think it's fixed.

The first time I thought it was a fuel issue, but I had the fuel filter replaced and there is great pressure at the injectors, and it's still stalling, so that's not it.

The second time I had the distributor replaced, and it was fine for a month, and then failed again.

I have a 96 K1500 Suburban, and I'm either going to fix it this time or sell it - do you or anyone else have any recommendations?

If your trouble is losing the electrical power, I'd definitely say check all your connections and grounds. If it's fuel, that would be a different deal.

Mine would lose electrical, cut off, and a few seconds later would be fine. It ended up being the ground at the rear of the right side head. I don't know why it went away for months when I checked everything else. When it stopped, I thought it was something I "fixed", so I quit fixing stuff. When it started up again, I found another bad connection. Since the symptoms were exactly as before, I have to assume that it was the problem months ago. Hinky electrical issues are the worst. You can't diagnose it when it's working, and it only fails for a few seconds at a time.

Hi Dave, thanks for letting me know. This truck has had a lot of electrical issues over the last few years, after someone broke in and tried to hotwire it in the stupidest way possible. I understand that some of the groundwires actually melted, and I had to have significant electrical work done afterward to get it fixed, so I will take a look and most likely take it to a specialist if I think this is electrical.

I appreciate the help.

Mine died on me again today. Back to the drawing board.

The good thing is that it's always just for a few seconds and then it's good to go. It does up the pucker factor when pulling out into traffic though.

Did it again on the way to work today. I just ordered all new, factory style battery cables. Let's see what that does for the issue. The ends have been replaced on the old cables at some point, but I'm going to eliminate that as a possibility. They seem fine, but...

I'm prayin! Good luck and keep us posted.

No problems (so far...fingers crossed...stroking lucky rabbits foot) so far on day 1.

Intermittent electrical issues are a bear sometimes and I just hate throwing parts at a problem and hoping for the best.
