93 5.7 350. Made the trip from Huntsville to auburn this weekend (round trip = 414 miles) and at certain points like up a hill or on long straightaways my truck would do this and lose a good bit of power. Almost bogging down if you will. It would do for awhile then it would stop after low speeds and stops at gas stations. At the worst point I have to almost put it to the floor to go anywhere. It did this awhile back but I moved to a heavier oil (Castrol 20w50 w a PF52 filter) and it seemed to solve the problem until I had to make these long hauls for college. I made the stretch back to Auburn but now I'm scared to go anywhere. It doesn't do it around town or on short interstate trips.

I'm not sure what the noise is but the symptom sounds like a catalytic converter plugging up.
Check the exhaust back pressure upstream of your cat.

I'll take a WAG. The fact that it comes and goes depending on the run/load makes me think it's still oil related, and that you changing the oil did in fact lesson it short term. I'm betting on a plugged/collapsed lifter or two, worsened by the lower viscosity of a hot engine.

I'd try adding a full can of Seafoam to the oil and run it for a couple hundred miles or as instructed on the can. Change the oil/filter and let us know if it takes care of the issue.

Best wishes,
Steve

I too believe this might be the issue. I just hope they're plugged and not bent. I will look into the seafoam as soon as possible. My time is EXTREMELY limited these days... College, ugh. But worst case scenario and I have to go home again before I can look into it, what kind of harm can come from a prolonged or bent lifter? @J_lope82 I'm not running cats but I see where you are coming from there.

Cool your not running cats.
I have also seen pick up tubes getting clogged causing the top end of the engine to starve from oil.

The oil I was running the first time this happened was stock 5w30.
