Has anybody used some of the newer silverado rear ends in the gmt400 4x4 trucks? I would like to swap in a drum rear end but I am unsure of the widths that will work. I know I will probably have to move the spring perches and possibly the shock mounts, just curious if anyone else has already done the research.

I have the same question, I saw a 2002 z71 disc brake rear axle, for What I know if a direct fit, because it is chevrolet, the shock mounts I think are the same, But dont know if the track width changes, my worries Are that I have 15" rims and that trucks used 16" or 17"s rims

I'm pretty sure there is a writeup about the body style you are talking about and you have to move the spring perches. I am wondering about the even newer rear end width from the outside of the drums. I do not want the disc brake rear end, I like drums on the back since they have a lot less problems.
