Looks like the oil leaks I had....

I did that whole "drop the front diff, pull oil pan, timing cover, install new timing set and re-seal it all" ordeals.

Have fun
Damn!:(
I searched for oil leaks in that region and one of the results was your post with all that.
I'm glad to know at least what is involved in fixing it so dropping the front diff won't be a surprise.
I'm going to clean it off this weekend to see if i can confirm that's the problem.

We'll see how long i can last before it bugs me too much. It won't be fixed this year I almost guarantee it

Right on, i'll keep that in mind when I start ordering parts.
I'll have to decide if I want to replace the timing set while I'm there.

Or go full on cam swap as well

A couple pics where I fit the 00 in my new garage, i was pretty excited. We just move in last weekend and I spent most of the time keeping the garage clear, though that meant shoving everything in the house, which the Mrs. didnt exactly appreciate.:rofl:

And bad news...
During the move my oil pressure started dropping, down to 0 at stops at operating temp. The pressure sensor doesnt display typical signs of going bad unfortunately. Though the engine sounded fine and oil pressure still built up to about 20psi when driving, like 2200 rpm.
I've been checking the oil like a hawk since the oil leak, and looked fine until the very last time i drove it.

It may be hard to see in the pic, but the oil seems to have dark gray icky in it. This doesn't appear to bode well for my bearings :(

I'll be dropping the oil pan in the next few weeks to see whats up. I had considered putting a mechanical oil gauge on it but i don't want to risk any further damage by diagnosing a bad pressure sensor.

20psi at 2200? Mercy. Mines at like 60+ by that point.
Maybe replace the sending unit behind the intake manifold to verify its fine (before/after pan drop).

Someone chime in about the main oil pressure sending unit and the fuel pump interlock. Shouldnt the engine be shut down via the sending unit if oil pressure drops off?

I'll try a new sensor before I take it apart.
I've never heard of a fuel pump interlock to shut the engine down, that'd be cool maybe. I'll look in my FSM.

Small update, i've been busy with a lot of other ****, but finally got around to working on it a bit:

-I replaced the oil pressure switch, but the new one had 3 pins instead of 1 so I need to return it and buy the correct one :anitoof:
-Compression test results came back good, 165-175psi on each cylinder
-I drained the oil and have a test sample ready to send to blackstone

I plan to dig in to the nasty down under this morning (timing cover and oil pan).

Can anyone recommend a nice harmonic balancer puller set to buy for this engine?
This is my first time doing this, idk exactly how universal these things are.
