Hey everyone, I'm trying to restore an older set of Z71 wheels. I have a set from a 97 that I've hit twice with Aircraft peeler. Now I'm about to start with wet sanding. I bought 320, 600, and 1200. My question is at what point to do reapply a coat of clear, how many coats should I do, what's a good brand of clear, and do I polish before or after the clear coat?

Thanks!

I'm not sure if I understand. Once the wheel is as polished as it needs to be then clear over it. The aluminum should no longer oxidize. The only maintenance would be cleaning and waxing over the clear coat. If you go over the clear with heavy duty compound or super aggressive buffing then you'll burn through the clear. The point of clearing over the wheel is so you don't have to polish the aluminum. Ymmv.
