so this might be a dumb question but if was to buy drop leaf springs would i have to do an axle flip or could i leave it stock with the springs on top of the axle? Cause evrything ive seen they do the axle flip.

Yes, you can buy drop springs. You won't get 6" of drop out of them though. Also, none of the drop springs I know of have the carrying capacity of the stock springs. They sometimes ride better, but then you will need a rear swaybar.

I'm one of those who don't like the BT spindles (and most likely the reason Someotherguy wishes he had 5.5 BS). I'm also the guy who is well aware that no one has any problem with trimmed rain gutters but doesn't like that either. So, I always recommend at least a 17" wheel. Nitto makes a great set of tires called the NT450. 255/50 front and 275/50 Rear. Stick like glue wet or dry. I also have had numerous trucks I lowered with KYB Gas-A-Just shocks-and I swear by them. Lifetime guarantee too. Ride nicely just cruising around and stiffen up for better control when you push it. In fact, I don't miss a rear swaybar when I use them.
The black '94 actually had some other brand of spindles, can't remember, have owned them literally forever. Still a little too close with the 20x8.5 5.25" and a 255/45/20, fenders rolled, no interference but IMO would look nicer if they sat in just a tiny bit instead of being right at the edge. The fit was better with the Centerlines as they were 5.5"

If all you have is shackles, might as well do hangers.

When I had the BellTech kit in mine, we used those brackets as is. It'll look fine.
The thing that we did do though, & it's not in B/T's instructions, was to move the notch back in the frame that same distance.
IIRC, (It was such a lonnng time ago!) that was about 1".
Unless you remove those tabs on the housing that are for nothing once you do the flip, they will slightly touch on the back inside of the notches. B/T's, notches (& most other's, I would think. But I'm familiar with the B/T's) are angled as they move up to the top. It's on the occasional hard compression of the suspension when those tabs will hit.
That 1" move back of the notch won't affect anything on the front sides of the notch. There's plenty of room there.
...or you could just grind those tabs off.
need some info on99 5.7 to beef it up a lill on rebulid

How much can you drop the rear end before you have to notch the frame? Im thinkin about getting a long bed and frame to make a trailer out of, color matched with my truck with a tall topper on it. I want to lower because i plan to haul my mower around with it and i think it would be a cool project. Itll probably be a half ton frame and bed. Its not a big mower, just a 19.5 hp craftsmen rider, might weigh 450 with plow and gas.

I think it's generally accepted that you can drop the rear 4" without the notch, although I've seen a few people say they had issues with suspension travel. Personally I'd say 3" or less if you don't want to do the notch.

Well i cant notch for what i want to use it for lol. I think 3" should be plenty. I just want it to be shorter because it gets kind of scarry riding a mower up quad ramps into the bed of a tall truck. If i build this then itll have dedicated ramps and be closer to the ground plus i want a topper so i can store the mower in it when im not using it.

Dont you have to cut sections of the bed floor out to notch? I wanted to use it for my mowing trailer. And i dont think ill be able to get a mower in it if i have a big hump in the bed lol
Edit: i thought about doing a 4 link and bags but then id have to have a compressor. Plus thats alot of work for a mowing trailer lol.
