I was looking to do some exhaust upgrades to my 98 5.7 vortec. If the stock dual size is 1 7/8s, the crimped bend on the head pipe has got to be 1.5 maybe less. Is this not killing power? I am pretty sure my wifes 2.5L toyota camry has 2.25 pipping.
Whats up with it the small size? I always thought exhaust piping should be no smaller than 2.25 on anything.

On Engine Masters they beat the every loving crap out of some pipes on a far more powerful motor and only managed to kill like 6 hp, out of 500. You're good to go.

Your teeny tiny cam and ****** intake is holding you back, followed by the tune, not your exhaust.

Not sure I subscribe to this. What's the rest of the story?

they do all kinds of ****, they dyno'd a high horse power motor on 2.5" vs 3" exhaust and the 2.5" did kill horsepower and torque.

I thought the 3" was better everywhere on that engine except the extreme low end of the graph, and if I remember right, the difference wasn't even enough to matter anyway on that big block

On the big block the low end was almost identical they figured if it was for a street car it wasn't going to matter because you're not running around the streets above 3k rpm.

For a mostly stock small block truck dual 2.25" is plenty and it's cheaper than 2" and 2.5"
