Yeah I currently have the black box, I'd say its worth the money to send him your ecm and have it tuned or you can buy a whole "new" ecm for more money and not have down time.

Yeah, as long as I can get it there and back in about a week, I could manage. If you don't mind, approx how much did he charge for that? $150ish?

Its officially registered in NY now. I also installed my old toolbox, I last had it in my old truck back in 2012 and took it out when I started having to haul water with my short bed, took up too much room. Now that I have a long bed, I figured i'd pop it back in. Also hooked up the class IV hitch that I had in the truck I just sold. Its sooooo nice having something that I can break bolts loose by hand and taking them the rest of the way out with my fingers. (Had to remove the two rear lower bumper bolts). I need to go through the underside and protect everything one way or another before we get cooler weather. I have a "lifetime supply" of cans of undercoat from my work that I could spray, and also a similar quantity of cavity wax available, so i'll probably use a combination of the two.

Definitely get inside the bed rails underneath, up over the wheel housings inside the bedsides, and down inside the tail light pocket area by the tail lights.

Those are all the secret places Pigpen's "rust free" southern bed is starting to let loose at.

Yeah, i'm going to try and get into every nook and cranny possible with the wax, and probably coat the whole underside of the bed and cab, along with wheel housings, frame, lines, etc. I feel bad plastering such a clean truck with cans of undercoat, but in the long run it will be well worth it.

For the more exposed area's, my dad uses drain ATF/oil in a sprayer. He hits it twice a year, makes a hell of a mess. Eventually, all the road dirst and stuff that sticks to it, makes a film, that you can wipe off with a finger, but salt water can't get to lol.

Yeah, i've heard of people spraying used motor oil too. I never liked the idea because of the mess, other than it would hide all of the other drips and seaps coming from the drivetrain

I think it was a bit north of 150 but I didn't send in my ecm and I also requested rush service.. So like 4 days and I had the ecm at my house. To send yours in it may take over a week but it should be around 100.

I just use a few cans of WD-40. Not as messy and I do it every fall.
