1991 C2500 Silverado 454 with 127k miles.

I'm looking for advice on which shocks will work well with my truck. Shocks are blown, sometime in the future I will be pulling a mid size 5th wheel camper. Looking at the $35-$60 range and I found the Monroe Gas-Magnum ones but got stuck on where its listing the front shocks as (w/ Heavy Duty Suspension or w/o Heavy Duty Suspension). Is there actual mounting differences between the w/Heavy Duty and w/o Heavy Duty? Or just a difference with the internal stuff?? With it being a 3/4 ton, would always require any shocks made for heavy duty suspension???

The Monroe Gas Magnums are a good value for the dollar shock. They ride a bit softer than Bilstein 4600's but still offer almost the same amount of control under normal driving conditions. The Bilsteins are way better when things ramp up and your going faster than you should over bumps and around turns etc. but r out just outside of your budget. You might like the Rancho 9000's too but have not really priced those out in a while. I think the "Heavy Duty" is if you have the full floating rear axle vs the lighter duty 3/4 tons with the semi floating rear axles.

Rancho are owned and manufactured by Monroe. Same stuff. They're both low end replacements.

If you want something nice, save up a little bit and get the Bilsteins. It's not like they're all that much more. Check eshocks.com, they're almost always the cheapest for Bilsteins.

EDIT - To answer the question about the mounting points with the "HD" suspension, there is no difference. It's all the same.

I'm running Rancho's in the front and Monroe Gas Magnums in the rear. Rides very nice all around.

Running Monroe's as well. I only drive my truck 3-4 times a month. I don't need to spend extra for ride quality. Mine ride just fine.
