Wondering how bad 315/75/16 are for driveability and power loss. I'm getting an RCX lift installed and need tires to go with it. I know the 315s are the recommended size for looks but I'm curious how it is for driving and considering getting 295/75/16 instead. Believe I have 3.73 gears, truck is not driven daily and doesn't tow often anymore but don't want to lose the ability. Most I've hauled lately has been dirt bikes and firewood and recently picked up a tent trailer so very little weight. I just know my bosses truck is a f350 v10 lifted on 315/75/16 and feels like it's working a little too hard.

everyones got there preference, I had 35's with 4.10 gears and If I could do it again, id probably go 3.73's but I do a lot of highway driving and I haul ass on the highway.

you could always start with 33's and goto 35's later. Ive ran both, I didnt really notice a huge difference between the 2.

35's and 4.56:1 gears are equivalent to a factory 4.10 geared truck. 35's and 3.73:1 gears are somewhere between a factory 3.08 and 3.42 geared truck. In the language I speak, 3.08 or 3.42 and truck are not used in the same sentence.

I'm running 315/75/16 with 4:56 gears. Been daily driving it for awhile. Before I regeared it, I had 3:42 gears. It was awful. I would make certain you have the 3:73 gears then decide if you want to regear or not. If you don't, I'd go down to 33's. 35's are too big/heavy for anything less than 4:10 IMHO.

Truck is going in the shop in the morning so I'll make a decision tomorrow I guess. I only put 5k miles a year on it right now so the shop and everyone I've asked say go 315 since it's not a daily issue. I don't want to regear for the same reason, I just don't drive it much having a company truck. If only I could leave things stock...

I ran 315 70 17s with leveling kit on stock wheels, now that I'm lifted I'm running 17x9 helo maxx and they are much heavier than stock... Seems like I feel the power loss more now than before

I ended up with 315/75-16 General Grabber's. Glad I didn't go smaller due to looks but can definitely notice the drag taking off, brakes don't feel bad. I'll see how it works for a while. I don't tow or haul like I used too but if it was a couple years ago when I was towing daily I don't think it would have worked well at all. But at the same time how the truck used to get used it would have never been lifted either.

I am in similar situation, my truck has 6"bds and 3" body lift I've run 315/75/16 cooper stt (got almost 50k outta those) and now toyo open country mt. The truck has 3.73 and I don't put but like 6000 miles a year on it cause I have a company truck. The truck will still power brake and smoke the tires no issues, but if you get into towing a little more you will prolly want to regear the truck or if you are in mountains. I'm in Florida so barley and hills lol, I'm regearing to 4.56 soon due to pulling more things now a days.
