yeah, I know, another tow mirror thread.

I've been looking for the new style tow mirrors, with an integrated signal on the glass and a front marker light. The problem, is that I have not been able to find a set liked the ones linked below in black and not chrome. I have emailed numerous eBay sellers, and checked Amazon and 1aauto. No luck. Does anyone know where the new style are available in black?

I have been able to find them in black for a 99-02, so I am considering buying those and then buying a really cheap, no frills 88-98 tow mirrors and swapping the bases. Then I would sell the 99-02 no frills mirrors. Opinions?

Also, since I am playing devils advocate, would the chrome ones look ok on my truck? With the silver two tone, I think it might be too much.

I know the truck is a little low. I just picked up a new rough country suspension lift for $650 (my score of the century) and will be putting it in shortly. Then I plan to utilize the wheel/tire combo that bluex used on his former truck.

I also picked up a set of used gm factory fender flares, and plan to get them painted satin black with some texture.

Pic is a little outdated, I installed a teardrop style cowl hood a couple of months ago.

IMO, if you added the chrome side mirrors it'd look a bit overwhelming. For the side mirrors, you could always pick up a set of k2xx towing mirrors and retrofit them to your truck. IIRC, @Stepside_fever95 did that to his truck. Here's a couple eBay listings for them:

That is my current plan. I know they did at one time make the k2xx in black, but I cannot find them for sale anywhere with the 88-98 base.

You could paint it, but i would just plasti dip or vinyl wrap it so you dont have to take your mirror off.
My mirrors are the gmt400 base mirrors, i didnt swap anything.

They sell them already made to fit our trucks. I did buy a set of fully loaded GMT800 mirrors and swapped bases to the GMT400 style, so I could get heated glass which wasn't offered in the GMT400 base.

Here are black ones in GMT400, although I have never seen them in power or I would have bought them to begin with.

I see they do sell a fully loaded set for GMT800 now, which you could swap bases with and use to get the options you want.

You probably have already seen this one, but I'd might as well just leave it here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/88-98-Chevy...ash=item4644dc9cee:g:z8YAAOSwiwVWTX-9&vxp=mtr

Would it be possible to paint over the chrome? Seems like no one makes the combo you're looking for.
That is what I did with mine, took them apart and painted the caps gloss black.

surprise, az
The black ones never had the lights on them, also the 2014+ style mirrors have a tendency of cracking

You can find them in black, they are just not very common. I've seen manual black with lights for GMT400, and fully loaded black for GMT800 and newer. Actual K2XX OEM mirrors had clearance/signal mirrors from the factory in black.

I've seen a couple people have cracking issues with them, mine are still good since December.
