I bought the adapter that goes under the middle vents. It actually includes new vent holes. It looks like it will be a nice, clean looking install. I also got the plastic bin that can replace the stock radio. (If anyone wants the old stuff, they can have it for shipping costs.)

Is there a good video or pictorial step-by-step instruction for the swap? I hate to take more apart than I need to but it's equally frustrating to try to work around something that could come out easily. The heater/AC ducting looks like it will probably have to come out.

My climate control panel is flashing triangles along the left edge occasionally. It may be a good idea to change some ducting solenoids while I'm in there.

Any suggestions from those more experienced?

The radio install is pretty easy.

I'm not sure about any flashing triangles. I'm a fan of "If it aint broke..."

I also have a 1994 K1500 (with 279k miles) for work. The temperature control isn't working. I only get cold air. The A/C works fine but I don't have a defroster. The temperature control indicator is a line of triangular lights along the bottom of the display. When I try to adjust the temp, the triangles all start flashing. I assume that's an error code because the vacuum solenoid or something isn't functioning.

On the '93 (the one I'm working on), the triangles along the left side indicating the mix between floor and dash vents all flash. The only way I get the dash vents to blow A/C is to first go to defrost and then dash. If I try going from floor to dash, nothing changes but I get cold feet and the triangles start the flash dance.

Hi. I had a '94 years ago. I understand what you mean now. I'm sorry I can't give you any advice, I'm unfamiliar with the hvac system in these trucks. I'm sure somebody smarter than me will chime in soon.

I got the stereo in successfully Saturday. It was a lot easier than I expected. Changing out the rear speakers was the hardest part. I really don't think that the interior moldings were made to come out without breaking. I highly recommend spending the $10 on the adapter plug. Take the time to use the shrink wrap over soldered connections.

If anyone has a need for the old stereo, control panel and cassette module let me know. You can have them for shipping costs.
