Rear axle wheel studs arrived in my mailbox thanks to USPS and Rockauto.com. If I am feeling up to it I might tackle this axle job on Sunday. We'll see how I feel though, lots of yard work to do to keep the wife smiling.

So I went to the Syracuse Nationals today and did a little bit of shopping in the flea market. Nothing too impressive this year honestly, mostly overpriced junk but I did find a set of black center caps cheap so I grabbed them. I think they will look better than the ones I have on the truck now. I just have to switch the lug nuts and get those plastic lug nut caps eventually. They are not perfect but for the price I couldn't say no. They are the only thing I bought this year sadly, and I had a list with me too.

I never have this kind of luck. Last week when I scored the quads at the junk yard I removed a very nice chrome OEM grille. It wasn't perfect but was really nice. I talked myself out of it at the time saying I am not a chrome guy and I have a nice grille already. Well all week I stewed on that grille and how I should have at least bought it to have, even if I never got around to using it. Then I thought, it must be gone by now. All the grilles at Trout's are usually **** or gone. They never last long. I took my time and removed this grille nicely, no tearing or anything. Someone had to have bought it. So this morning I ran out there crossing my fingers the truck was still there and maybe, just maybe the grille was still there. Holy **** not only was the truck still there, someone had stored the grille in the cab when they moved it out to the chevy section of the yard. I bought it on the spot! Could not believe no one had snagged it yet.

I recently decided that the plan is to sand all the silver and lower red sections so I can get it ready to be silver or dark gray all the way from the sides down (still debating colors). It's going to be two-tone with the red on top. I plan to cut the rust from the fenders, seal the metal then cover everything with flares. Should look killer. With this in mind the black grille started to look out of place. I am not a chrome guy at all but I also let vehicles be what they want to be so chrome started making sense. Getting ready for quads and a tiny bit of paint work. Just need to replace the bulbs on the quads...only one works.

Didn't get to the axle this weekend. I overbooked myself.

Here's a quick mock-up of the new center caps I scored at the Syracuse Nationals yesterday.

Center exhaust pipe fell out of its clamp on the way to work today so for the last 10 miles it was straightpipe all the way. Boy did it sound like ****. Got to work, loosened the clamp, tapped the pipe/muffler back in with a mallet, tightened the clamp back up. All good again. At first I thought the y-pipe broke but looking at the truck in the reflection of a building window I could see the muffler hanging down at an odd angle. So once again a cheap fix that only cost me time.

Tach finished. It works and lights up. Simple easy mod. GM was nice enough to give you the connector right at the ignition coil. So now on to more pressing matters.
