Hey guys this is my first post. I have a 1997 k1500 4.3L nv3500 cheyenne and after i got back from a week vacation a few weeks ago my truck has had some issues starting. It doesn't do this everytime but when it does do it it simply does not want to start. This morning for example i had to turn the starter over several times for several seconds and it finally started up. When i cranked it an hour later or so, it started at the first thought of turning the key no issues whatsoever. AC delco fuel pump put on recently as well as new plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor. Im pretty sure its getting fuel because it doesn't do this everytime just sometimes. What do yall think it could be?

Sounds kinda like what I was experiencing with my 88. A bad temp sensor was the culprit. It was a quick $20 fix and the truck never took more than a second or two to start again.

Not saying this IS your problem but it was certainly mine.

Check the side terminals on the battery. Mine like to back off every few thousand miles. I have the now top post ends just haven't gotten to installing them.

If no CEL codes, what Dylan Said, and check the ground going to the battery, and to the right fender.

Not on a Chevy truck, but I once had a car with this exact issue. Leaky temp sensor. It would leak and the contacts would get wet and change the signal going to the computer. Chased this gremlin for a while until I stumbled across this. Aggravating as hell since it would only do it when I was in a hurry.

If your truck is setting for long periods of time and hard to start then but start fine after just sitting for a breif moment you may have a bad spider harness or injector. Just my opinion. Hope you figure it out

Hey guys, sorry I haven't responded. I've been at school and have not driven the truck until recently when I drove it it to school last week. I have replaced the clutch, clutch pedal, master and slave cylinders, pressure plate, throwout bearing, pilot bushing, starter, alternator, ublots, and finally the Coolant Temperature Sensor. This, I believe, has helped. The truck starts better but still has some problems when cold. It doesn't want to start the first crank, it will fire up immediately the second try. When it is warm, it fires up perfect the first try.

HELP!
Hey guys, the truck will not start when cold. I had to roll start it this morning, I brought it to Advance Auto to test the battery. They said it was fine but when the truck was off something was pulling an amp off it. The man said it could be a bad ground? Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

as a couple guys mentioned check your grounds. new grounding cable is relatively inexpensive but you may just have to clean up your contact points.

I'm not thinking it's a ground if it's cranking and will not start.
