theres only two options thatll work anyhow. 2500ld is the same as 1500, 2500hd is the same as 3500

meaning theres only two caliper, two rotors and two pads thatll work 369 and 370 part numbers at advance and carquest
if your 6 lug you only have 1 rotor option

you can physically bolt both calipers just fine i used the 2500hd/3500 calipers and used 2500/1500 pads.

you cant use 2500hd/3500 pads because with a 1500/2500ld rotor they will hit.

so your combo is 1500/2500ld rotors for 6 lug as they are the same, 2500hd/3500 calipers, and 1500/2500ld 369 pads, your just bumping caliper piston size with the 2500hd/3500 stuff
I'm trying to follow you here, but I'm having trouble. Theres actually 3 different calipers for the GMT-400 4X4 trucks. Theres the 6 lug calipers, the 8 lug SRW calipers, then theres the 3500 DRW calipers. There is no HD or LD in the GMT-400 line. The 3500HD in the GMT-400 era is known as a GMT-455. So when you guys are talking about 3500 calipers, are you talking about the SRW or DRW ones? Didn't think the DRW ones would work as they are meant for rotors that are a .250 thicker than the 6 lug and 8 lug SRW trucks used.

So are we talking using the single rear wheel or dual rear wheel when everybody says 3500 calipers?

i say LD and HD just because 3/4 had two seperate gvrws which designates 6 or 8 lug which is where pads rotors and calipers begin to change.

SRW calipers. honestly the entire larger caliper brake swap is the exact same thing they did on municipal GMT400s.

The TAHOE's with the police package received the larger 8 lug SRW calipers, pads, and also got a different proportioning valve in the ABS unit. It was the same valve that came in the 3500HD with 4 wheel disc brakes. I kept seeing people post about 3500 calipers, and just wanted to make sure which 3500 calipers were being referenced. I did the SRW to DRW swap when I was do for pads and rotors. Figured the calipers were 20 years old, so why not do them. Cost me no more to the DRW stuff than SRW, so why not. Had already done the wheel cylinders a few months earlier, so I'm all dually brakes now on my BURB.

Yes, you have to use 1500 pads and modify the inner clip slightly so the pads stays locked in the piston. I just finished this swap on my 1500 along with the GMT800 master cylinder and the brakes feel a lot better. Also deleted the RWAL while I was in there. The pedal is instant and firm now. Check out my build thread about 1/2 through for all the details on what I did for my swap.

Has anybody actually tried the 2500 pads with the 2500 calipers and 6 lug rotors? Look in the parts catalog's, they specify the 370 pads instead of the 369's of the regular 1500's for the police package that uses the larger 3.15" piston 2500 calipers instead of the 2.94" 1500 calipers. When I looked through the catalogs, I couldn't find a different knuckle listed for the police package, so I'm trying to understand why everybody is sticking with the different pads. Theres not much difference between the 369 and 370's though really except for the tab that locks it into the caliper piston, but the outer pad is a bit more substantial than the 1500's. Heres the 3 pads from left to right, 1500, SRW, and DRW.

The outer pad will rub on the hat of the rotor, if you try to use 2500/3500 pads with 1/2 ton rotors.

I have 1500 pads with 3500 1-ton calipers and a GMT800 master with the RWAL delete. That's what I am running. I have read the 2500 pads will rub. Never tried them myself. Yes you do have to stretch the inner pad retainer clip to get it to hold inside the bigger caliper piston.
