Vortec's need over 60 psi of fuel pressure to start properly. Have you tried to poor a little gas in the throttle body. If that doesn't work, did the timing chain jump time ? Put the crank pulley on TDC ( on the compression stroke) then pull the distributor cap and see if the rotor is pointing to number one plug wire. Along with what Justin S said.
We had been trying to get it to hit with starring fluid, but no luck. We are gonna look at the timing chain today and see if that's the issue.

So we checked the timing and it was good. Then we replaced the rotor button, distributor cap and camshaft sensor and miraculously it started and was running great! This was last night and we didn't take it out for a run. So today we go back to it and know it isn't starting again. But it is sputtering and we have figured out that we are not getting fire from the distributer? Not sure what has happened?

On my 97 454 it was the distributor gear was so worn it was throwing the timing off with the computer. The gear was almost completely gone. Just a thought.

Well sad news today. It, again, decided to start and idle for 20 mins or so and then it starting making a noise similar to something pecking on metal. I had originally bought the stuff to do a oil change and went ahead and did it after this bad news. And when I was draining the oil, it looks like the intake gasket has blown or something because there was more coolant in the oil than oil itself. And I check the radiator and it was about half full (was originally full the other day).
