Thank you, its funny. My neighbor actually told me 2 weeks ago that its very rare to see younger generations getting involved with "muscle cars, and mud trucks". For me a newer car was my truck when I bought it. It had a computer in it!

Went to the Carlisle GM Nationals this past weekend. I spent 8 hours per car detailing and making sure they were absolutely perfect. Started off using Meguiar's gold class soap, then clay bar kit, then compound, polish, and carnauba wax. Of course I did all the polishing of metals and interior cleaning.

The show was smaller than normal and a lot HOTTER. Carlisle Events changed up the voting this year and allowed those who entered cars in the show to vote. No more professional judges who know what to look for. Only Chevrolet owners could vote for Chevrolets. Buick owners could vote for Buicks and so on. Both my father and I were entered in the 1973-1979 Nova class which was comprised of four cars. My '77, my dad's '78, a '79 and a '74. The 1974 won first place, I won second, and the 1979 placed third. I believe the '74 won solely because of a clean engine bay. My interior was much nicer and bodywork quality was evenly matched. Not butt hurt or anything. The judging did give an advantage to those who have "flash and flair" and not to those who kept the cars "original" much like my dads since the engine bay was covered in 35 years of oil and grease. Overall I had a great time and even bought a new grill and bowtie for my truck.

Congrats on the award. I heard from the guys I know that went and they said judging was a joke this year.

Guess I should have updated this a while ago.

I still have the car and my grandfather let me store it in the open bay of his garage for the winter. Detailed it, treated the fuel, and covered it.

The car had a bad exhaust leak coming from a blown header gasket. So I got that fixed but it failed inspection because my Radial T/A's are dry rotted. Threw my snow tires on it lol and it passed with flying colors. Still leaks oil like crazy. Also when my truck was in the shop for 3.5 weeks I had to drive it to school and work. The drivers door got stuck shut and wouldn't open from the inside or outside. That pissed me off more than anything haha. Needless to say its nice having extra room in our driveway here at home.

Don't plan on selling it at all but my plans for it have changed a little once I'm able to get another restoration started on it. I'm also ditching the idea of a 383 or big block. I'm on the hunt for a 5.3 or 6.0 and 4L60E transmission to go in it. I don't want to hack up the car for a manual transmission anymore since the auto is original to the car.

Plans:

-5.3 or 6.0 with a carburetor
-Built auto transmission
-12 bolt rear with disc brakes
-Factory black paint with or without the vinyl roof (haven't decided if its going to flow or not)
-Weld Racing S71's with black spokes
-15% tint on all windows except windshield
-Lowered
-Convert back to halogen headlights but keep LEDs on everything else

Anything new?

Well, its got a misfire and its too late in the year to do plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Plus its leaking oil around the intake manifold and the oil pan. I'm just gonna let this thing blow up and go from there. I don't drive it enough for it to be an issue and I honestly think I'll end up pulling the motor before it blows. While my Dodge was in the shop for a week getting new injectors I drove this thing around. Sucked not having heated seats or heat in general but handled my 1/8th of a mile commute fine.

I gotta prep it for winter before I cover it. Since my grandfather had a stroke and is now in a nursing home we had to sell his house so I have nowhere to store the car indoors and can't afford to rent garage space.

Decided last Wednesday to go to the Carlisle GM Nationals with a co-worker. He's got an 80's S-10 with a 6.0 LS swapped in it and 4L80E transmission. So Friday night it got washed, clay bar, polished, paint sealed, and waxed. Saturday was hot but got to see a lot of nice cars and vote. Had a decent time overall regardless of the show going downhill. Had 5 cars in my class (3) 73-74 Nova's and (1) 1975 Nova as well as mine. I took home 3rd place and was really excited about it. Didn't expect to win but it kind of got me back in the classic car scene.

Congrats!! I saw the car there, but nobody was around it. My kid took 2nd in the modified Monte Carlo class. I took home a busted windshield!

Never been there before, but from what I was told the show did go downhill. Not really impressed, but it could have been because of the windshield issue.
