What is needed to rebuild a 8.5 6lug rear.

I'm wanting to rebuild the rear of my truck and have no clue on what all is needed I'm ordering ring and pinion from my work and everything else from rock auto. Any advice helps.

Axle seals, wheel bearings, and a master over haul kit that includes carrier bearings, pinion bearings, pinion seal, and a crush sleeve.

Are you running spider gears, a Gov Loc, or an aftermarket unit? If you have the G80 there is a rebuild kit for it, or if you are running spider gears, now would be a great time to upgrade! I actually almost completely rebuilt a 9.5 14 bolt rear with a Detroit Truetrac.

X2. If there's any part of this job you don't feel 100% comfortable with then take it to someone who does. No point in grenading a brand new rear end due to improper installation, it's not the easiest job to do right.

What is needed to rebuild a 8.5 6lug rear.
