looking for someone in the northeast United States who still does custom chip tuning in person. Im located in central CT, but willing to travel a little. I don't wanna have to deal with sending for one and hoping it works properly.

For which platform? TBI chip or Vortec?

Not sure why you're against a mail order tune, most companies will send you the tuned PCM before you send yours back for the core so you have no down time.

This is an interesting topic to me and my 1993 TBI C1500 also. I'm not as stuck on having a tune that can be completed, "in-person" but I've found that most of the online guys that do TBI tuning are hard to nail down on one area or another as you prepare to have the tune completed. I don't want to name names because no one has taken my money and offered poor products but it's been so tricky to find a Chip Tuner that I'm considering going to a carb intake and bolting a Holley or FAST fuel injection setup on the top.

I learned how to do my own tuning, including data logging and chip burning at Gearhead EFI (www.gearhead-efi.com). It's cheaper to purchase the equipment to do your own tuning than to pay someone to do it. If you don't want to go through the process to learn it, look for Dave over at Gearhead EFI. He is the owner/operator of Old School EFI in Washington. He does a fantastic job with mail order tunes.

I'm a member at Gearhead EFI and I like the people and enjoy their site. I have tried datalogging and still have trouble making that work well. I would love to have the skill set to do my own tuning and burning but sadly at this point in my life I just don't have the time. I've chatted with Dave but at the time I had another person helping me so I didn't want to stop since that person, in good faith, had been also answering questions. Now due to health issues that person isn't able to help so I'll have to check on Dave.
