94 K5 with a 5.7 Tbi. Had a cracked head so I installed shorty headers and now the truck sputters and stumbles and backfires when driving. Where do I start?

Distributor timing. To replace the head, it had to come out, reinstalled, and correctly timed.

No I never touched to distributor. It's nowhere near my heads. The distributor is on top of my engine and my exhaust headers are on the side.

Alright, you didn't reconnect the spark plug wires in the right order after installing the headers. That is all.

You are having an ignition problem most likely. A broken or cracked spark plug, a nicked, or just misfiring plug wire, a cracked distributor cap, a bad distrib. cap, ect. The only other thing may be your EGR system, but that is unlikely, as long as there is a supply pipe for the EGR on the drivers side header, and it is connected. I changed a leaking header gasket on my truck a while back, and cracked a spark plug in the process, with out knowing. The truck was missing, so I looked at the plug wires after dark with no light so I could see if they were misfiring. No misfire. After pulling the plugs, I found a cracked plug. The header had sat on it and cracked it with out me knowing. Do an ECM code read on the truck, and that will help you figure out where the problem is.

Yeah I found the problem this morning. It was 2 cracked plugs on the passenger side. I must have hit them when sliding the new headers is.
